Car Wraps & Color Change · Orange County

Car wraps that change
everything but the paint

A vinyl wrap puts a completely new color on your car without touching the factory finish underneath. Gloss that reads like fresh paint, satin and matte the manufacturer never offered, color shift that moves as you walk past it. Full wraps, partial panels, roof and chrome delete. We install in a clean indoor bay in Santa Ana for drivers across Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Anaheim.

Everyone calls it a wrap, and there are actually two films that do it. Vinyl is the classic. Color PPF is the thicker one that also stops rock chips. Both come off clean later. Below is the honest breakdown of which one belongs on your car.

Option 01 · Vinyl Wrap

The classic color change

Vinyl is the fastest, most affordable way to a completely new look. The palette is enormous: gloss that reads like fresh paint, satin and matte the factory never offered, color shift that moves in the light. Full wraps, partial wraps, roof wraps and chrome delete. One honest thing to know: vinyl is a styling film. It shields the paint from sun and light scuffs, but it is not armor and will not stop rock chips.

  • Most affordable color change
  • Widest choice of colors & finishes
  • Great for styling & accents
  • Removable, paint stays original
  • Typically five to seven years of good looks
  • Styling layer, not chip protection
Option 02 · Color PPF

New color and real
protection in one film

Color PPF is paint protection film with the color built in. One layer changes the look AND takes the abuse: rock chips, freeway sand, parking lot scratches. Light swirls disappear with heat because the film self-heals. The finish sits deeper and richer than vinyl, closer to premium paint. It costs more, and it is the best long term way to own a new color.

  • Color + chip protection in one
  • Self-healing top coat
  • Premium, paint-deep finish
  • Built for roughly 10 years
  • Removable, paint stays original
  • Best long-term option
Honest Comparison

Vinyl wrap vs Color PPF

Quick version: vinyl wins on budget and choice of colors. Color PPF wins on protection, finish and lifespan. Neither touches your factory paint, and both come off clean.

Finishes & Coverage

Full wrap, partial wrap,
or just the details

You do not have to wrap the whole car to change how it reads. Some of the best work we do is three panels and a chrome delete.

01

Full color change

Every painted panel, with door jambs and edges wrapped so the car reads as if it left the factory this color. This is the one people photograph.

02

Partial wrap

Roof, hood, mirrors or a racing stripe. Cheaper, faster, and often sharper than doing the whole car. A black roof on a light car is the classic.

03

Chrome delete

Window trim, grille surrounds and badges taken from chrome to gloss or satin black. The single biggest change per dollar on most modern cars.

04

Finishes

Gloss, satin, matte, color shift, brushed metal and textured. Satin is what most of Orange County is asking for right now, especially in the darker greys.

What Drives The Quote

Why car wrap cost
varies so much

Wrap pricing gets quoted online as one number, which is why people show up surprised. The film is a small part of it. Most of what you are paying for is hours and the skill to keep edges invisible. Here is what moves it.

What changes itHow it works
How much of the carChrome delete, a roof, a partial or the full body. Each step is a different day.
Shape of the carDeep bumpers, spoilers, vents and wide arches take far longer than flat sedan panels.
FinishSatin, matte, color shift and textured films behave differently under heat and cost differently by the roll.
DisassemblyRemoving handles, badges, lights and trim is what makes edges disappear. Skipping it is how you get lifting corners in six months.
Paint conditionVinyl needs clean, sound paint to stick to. Peeling clear coat has to be sorted first or the wrap will not hold.
Old wrap removalStripping a previous wrap and its adhesive is its own job, especially if it has been baking in the sun for years.

Send us the car and the finish you want and we will come back with a real number for it, not a range.

Living With It

How to wash
a wrapped car

A wrap will last years or it will last one summer, and the difference is mostly how it gets washed. Hand wash it with a pH neutral soap and two buckets. Stay out of the brush tunnels, because spinning bristles find every edge and start lifting them. Dry with a soft towel rather than letting water spot in the sun.

Satin and matte have one extra rule. Skip wax, polish and compound entirely. Those add gloss, which is the whole thing you paid to avoid, and it does not come back off evenly. There are matte specific sealants if you want protection on top.

Bird droppings and bug guts want to come off the same day. They are acidic, and given a week in the Orange County sun they will stain vinyl the same way they etch clear coat. Park in shade where you can, since UV is what ages a wrap faster than anything else.

  • Hand wash, pH neutral soap, two buckets
  • No brush tunnels, they lift edges
  • No wax or polish on satin and matte
  • Remove bird droppings and bugs the same day
Car Wrap FAQ

What people ask
before wrapping a car

It depends on how much of the car, the shape of it, the finish you pick and how much comes apart. A chrome delete and a full color change on a wide body coupe are different jobs entirely. Send us your car and the look you want and we will give you a real number instead of a range that means nothing.

Both change the color and both come off later. Vinyl is thinner, cheaper and comes in the widest range of finishes, and it is a styling film rather than armor. Color PPF is several times thicker with a self healing top layer, so it also takes rock chips. Vinyl for the look, color PPF for the look plus protection.

From sun and light scuffs, yes. From rock chips, no. Vinyl is too thin to absorb an impact, so a stone that would have chipped your paint will go through the wrap and chip it anyway. If protection is the goal, that is what PPF is for.

Around five to seven years on a quality film that is cared for. Cars that live outside in full sun age faster, and the roof and hood always go before the doors. Washing it properly is the single biggest thing you control.

Not on sound factory paint. The film comes off cleanly and the paint underneath is preserved, which is why wraps are resale friendly. The exception is paint that was already failing or a cheap respray, where the film can lift flaking clear coat on removal. We check before we start and tell you if we see a risk.

A full color change is a multi day job. We pull handles, badges and trim so the film wraps around edges instead of stopping at a visible cut line. That part separates a wrap that lasts from one that peels. Chrome delete and partial panels are much quicker.

All the time, and it is often the smartest money. A gloss black roof on a light colored car, or a satin hood, changes the whole shape of the car for a fraction of a full wrap.

Touchless is survivable. Brush tunnels are not, because spinning bristles catch film edges and start lifting them. Hand washing is what keeps a wrap looking new, and it is not as much work as people expect.

Teslas are one of the most wrapped cars in Orange County, mostly because the factory color list is short and everyone ends up in the same three. See our Tesla page for how we handle Model 3 and Model Y.
