Paint protection film
for roads that throw rocks
The 405 does not care how much you love your paint. Gravel, sand, lane debris, the truck ahead with no mud flaps. Paint protection film is a clear, self healing layer that takes those hits so your factory finish never does. We install it in a controlled indoor studio in Santa Ana, cut digitally for your exact model, for drivers across Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa and Newport Beach.
Two ways to go: keep your factory color under invisible armor, or change the color and protect the car in one move with Color PPF. Same protection, your choice of look.
Armor you can't see,
scratches that fix themselves
Premium PPF has a self-healing top coat. Light swirls and wash marks warm up in the sun and simply flow back flat. Rock chips get absorbed by the film instead of cratering your paint. And because we wrap edges and hide seams on body lines, most people cannot tell the car is filmed at all.
- Self-healing top coat
- Absorbs rock chips and road rash
- Nearly invisible when installed right
- No yellowing on modern premium film
- Removable without hurting paint
- Manufacturer warranty in writing
What the film
actually saves you from
PPF is a clear urethane film about as thick as a business card, laid over your paint. It is not a coating and it is not a wax. It is a physical layer that takes the damage instead of your clear coat. Here is what shows up on cars that do not have it.
| What hits your car | Bare paint | Under PPF |
|---|---|---|
| Rock chips | Craters through clear coat into color, then rust at the edges | Absorbed by the film, paint untouched |
| Light swirls and wash marks | Stay until someone polishes them out | Self healing top coat flows them back flat with heat |
| Bug guts and bird droppings | Etch the clear coat if they sit | Wipe off the film instead of your finish |
| Sand and road rash | Dulls and hazes the leading edges | Film takes the sandblasting |
| Door edges and handle cups | Chipped by rings and fingernails | Filmed and forgotten |
| UV fade | Color flattens over years in the sun | Film blocks UV before it reaches paint |
Protect what gets hit,
or protect everything
Most damage lands on the front third of the car. That is where most people start. How far you go depends on how you drive and how long you keep your cars. We will tell you honestly what makes sense for yours.
Partial Front
Bumper, partial hood and fenders, mirrors. The high-impact zone covered where chips land first.
Full Front
Full hood, full fenders, bumper and mirrors. No visible line across the hood. The most popular choice.
Track Pack
Full front plus rockers, A-pillars and leading roof edge. For freeway commuters and canyon drivers.
Full Body
Every painted panel wrapped in film. Maximum protection, maximum resale story. The keeper-car option.
Want a new color
and armor in one?
Color PPF carries the shade in the film itself, in gloss, satin or matte, with the same self healing rock chip protection as clear PPF and your factory paint preserved underneath. It is a whole story of its own, so we gave it a whole page.

A PPF job is won
in the prep
Anyone can lay film on a dirty hood and let the edges lift by winter. The result you see in our gallery comes from doing the boring parts properly.
Deep Clean
Wash, iron and tar decontamination, clay bar. Film over dirt fails. We start sterile.
Digital Patterns
Panels are cut by plotter from patterns for your exact year and model. No knives near your paint.
Install & Wrap
Film laid in a dust-controlled studio, edges wrapped where panels allow, seams hidden on body lines.
Cure & Inspect
Moisture worked out, panel-by-panel inspection under light, care instructions handed over with the keys.
Matte film, headlights
and the spots people forget
Clear gloss is what most cars get, and it is not the only option. These are the requests that come up once someone knows PPF exists.
Stealth matte PPF
Same protective film with a flat finish, so a gloss car turns satin and stays protected. It is the cleanest way to get a matte look without committing to paint, and it comes off later.
Headlight PPF
Headlights are polycarbonate and they haze, yellow and pit from sand. A clear film keeps them looking new, and the same idea works in a smoked finish if you want them darker.
Door cups and edges
The cheapest PPF anyone buys. Fingernails and rings chew up handle cups and door edges within a year, and a few small pieces of film stop it entirely.
Rocker panels and A pillars
The low panels take everything the front tires throw. On lowered cars they take even more. Filming them costs a fraction of repainting them.
Why PPF costs
what it costs
Nobody can price PPF over the phone without knowing the car, and any shop that does is guessing. Here is what moves the number, so you know what you are choosing between.
| What changes it | How it works |
|---|---|
| Coverage | Partial front, full front or full body. Each step adds film and hours, and full body is several days of work. |
| The car itself | Deep bumpers, spoilers, vents and wide fenders take far longer than flat panels. A GT car is not a sedan. |
| Film grade | Thickness, self healing performance and warranty length vary between tiers. We walk you through what each one buys you. |
| Disassembly | Pulling bumpers, lights, mirrors and badges lets film wrap around edges instead of stopping at a visible line. It takes time and it is what separates a clean job. |
| Paint condition | Film locks in whatever is underneath. If the paint needs correction first, that is its own step before anything gets laid. |
| Add-ons | Headlights, door cups, rockers, or a ceramic coating over the top. |
Tell us the car and how much of it you want covered and we will come back with a real number, not a range.
PPF vs coating vs wrap
Short version: PPF is physical armor. Ceramic coating is chemical protection and shine, great together with PPF. Vinyl wrap is a style change with only light protection. Different tools for different jobs.
| What matters | PPF | Ceramic Coating | Vinyl Wrap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rock chip protection | Yes, absorbs impacts | No | Minimal |
| Self-healing | Yes | No | No |
| Changes the look | Clear no, Color PPF yes | Adds gloss | Yes |
| Hydrophobic easy wash | Good | Best | Fair |
| Best for | Keeping paint perfect | Shine and easy care | Style on a budget |

Teslas love PPF
for a reason
Soft factory paint, fast acceleration, and low front ends that vacuum up road debris. Tesla owners are half our PPF work. Patterns, sensor zones and charge ports are routine for us, not an experiment. The other half is German: soft-painted BMWs and low-nosed Porsches that eat gravel for a living.
What everyone asks
before filming a car
A clear urethane film applied over your paint, roughly the thickness of a business card, with a self healing top coat. It takes rock chips, sand and scratches so your factory finish does not. People also call it PPF or a clear bra.
Depends on the car and the miles. A leased commuter probably does not need it. A car you are keeping, one with soft paint, or anything you would hate to see chipped is exactly what it is for. Compare the film against one repaint of a hood and the math usually answers itself.
Full front covers the panels that take the hits: bumper, hood, fenders and mirrors. That is where the vast majority of damage lands, and it is what most of our customers pick. Full body is for cars that live outside, get parked in tight lots, or that you simply do not want touched anywhere.
They solve different problems and they work together. PPF is a physical barrier against impact. A ceramic coating is a chemical layer for gloss, water beading and easy washing, and it does nothing against a rock. Film the front, coat the rest, and you have covered both.
A full front is usually a day or two depending on how much comes apart. Full body runs several days. Film also needs time to settle afterward, which is why we ask you to leave it alone for the first week.
We can, and you should know that film locks in whatever is under it. Existing chips and swirls will still be there, just sealed. If the paint is worth correcting first, we will say so before we start rather than after.
Our studio is on East Wilshire in Santa Ana, minutes from Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Anaheim and Huntington Beach. Cars come from across Orange County for this.
Quality film is measured in years, not seasons, and carries a manufacturer warranty. Exact terms depend on the film line we install, and we put them in writing with your quote.
The top coat is a polymer that flows back into shape when warmed. Light swirls disappear with sun heat or warm water. Deep rock chips do not heal, but the film absorbs them so your paint never sees the hit.
Installed properly, barely. We cut patterns digitally for your model, wrap edges where panels allow, and hide seams on body lines. Most owners forget it is there until a rock reminds them.
Yes, professional film comes off clean without damaging factory paint. At trade-in time that is the story you want: paint that spent its whole life protected.
Old-generation film did, and that reputation stuck. Modern premium film uses non-yellowing top coats and is warrantied against yellowing, cracking and peeling. This is exactly why we refuse to install bargain film.
If you want a new look and real protection, Color PPF. If you want a style change on a tighter budget and accept lighter protection, vinyl. We install both and will tell you honestly which fits your car and plans.
Give the film about a week to fully set before the first wash, and skip pressure washing directly at the edges for the first couple of weeks. After that, wash it like normal. Hand wash or touchless is always kinder to any finish.
Not really. Regular washing is enough. A ceramic coating on top of the film makes it even more slippery and easier to keep clean, which is why many of our customers pair the two.
